The World Health Organization (WHO) has changed the name of monkeypox to mpox.
According to reports, in June, the World Health Organization announced that it was working with experts to change the name of monkeypox.

Now after 5 months WHO has announced the new name.
According to a statement released by the WHO, racist and bigoted material was posted online when the monkeypox outbreak began.
According to the statement released, after consultation with international experts, WHO started using the term m-pox, both names will be used for some time and the term monkeypox will be removed within a year.
The first case of monkeypox was reported in 1970 in a child in the African country Democratic Republic of Congo.
