Polio fears rise in New York amid possible community spread

According to medical officials, after a case was reported in New York, there is a fear of rapid transmission of polio among citizens.

According to foreign media reports, New York Health Department officials on Thursday warned children and adults who have not been vaccinated against polio in view of the risk of possible community transmission of the deadly polio virus.

Health officials said the polio virus has so far been found in seven different samples of wastewater in two adjacent counties north of New York City, while one case of polio has been reported so far.

According to the authorities, citizens should be careful after a case comes to light as it may infect other people in large numbers.
