Parmer Lane Fire update:

A significant brush fire has erupted in Cedar Park, Texas, prompting a swift response from first responders. The fire is currently active in the vicinity of 12820 W. Parmer Lane, as confirmed by Cedar Park police.

As of 10:30 p.m. on August 8, the Parmer Lane Fire, as designated by the Texas A&M Forest Service, has spread across an estimated area of 120 acres and remains uncontained. The situation has been classified as a four-alarm fire by the fire chief overseeing operations.

Initial reports indicate that the Cedar Park Fire Chief received an emergency call regarding a grass fire at 6:18 p.m. Firefighters rapidly arrived at the scene to address the situation.

Tragically, one apartment building has been completely destroyed by the fire, while two others sustained varying degrees of damage. As a safety precaution, residents residing in the Bexley at Silverado apartment complex, the Whitestone Landing neighborhood, and nearby businesses were instructed to evacuate.

Efforts to control the situation continue as firefighters diligently monitor the surroundings for potential spot fires and work tirelessly to halt the advancement of the brush fire. To establish a protective perimeter around the active fire, bulldozers from the Texas A&M Forest Services are working on creating a containment line.

A comprehensive response has been initiated, with numerous resources being deployed to address the incident. The response teams comprise units from Cedar Park itself, alongside the collaboration of more than 20 state and local agencies.

Thankfully, there have been no significant injuries reported. The Cedar Park Fire Chief has confirmed that while one injury was of minor nature, there have been no major casualties.

In response to the situation, the Red Cross has extended assistance to those affected by the fire. Efforts are underway to establish shelter facilities for those who have been displaced as a result of the incident.

Local officials are urging individuals to steer clear of the affected area, along with adjacent roads like E. Whitestone Boulevard and West Parmer Lane, as well as the surrounding road network, to facilitate ongoing emergency operations.
