According to foreign media reports, two-time Olympic gold medalist American female basketball player Brittney Griner was arrested by the Women’s National Basketball Association for bringing prohibited drugs into the Russian border while participating in competitions in Russia.
Before the verdict, Brittney Griner cried and pleaded with the judge not to ruin her life by giving her a harsh prison sentence.
The court sentenced him to 9 years in prison and fined him 1 million rubles (about $16,990).
Brittney Griner’s attorneys have announced they will appeal the verdict, calling it unreasonable, saying the evidence she presented to the court was ignored.

According to reports, Brittney Griner was arrested on February 17 after hashish oil was found in her possession.
