Facebook-owner Meta releases first human rights report

Meta, a company owned by Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, has released a report on human rights for the first time.

The report comes as Meta has long been accused of turning a blind eye to violence and online abuse in countries such as India and Myanmar.

The report outlines the company’s human rights efforts between 2020 and 2021.

The report by META stated that it prevented health misinformation (regarding the Covid-19 pandemic) during this period.

According to the report, the company examined the threats and privacy issues facing various groups such as women, children, and minorities and worked to overcome these issues.

But the report did not satisfy critics of the spread of violence and misleading details in India, as the social media network provided only a summary of India, not complete details.

Human rights groups Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have demanded that all details about India be released.

A summary of the report on India was prepared by Foley Hoag, a law firm.

According to Meta, the law firm said that Meta’s platforms are becoming part of the threats to human rights posed by third parties.

According to the summary, Facebook, WhatsApp, and other platforms pose a threat to hateful content and public security, and Meta needs to take concrete steps in this regard.

Meta did not say what action it was taking on the recommendations.

The report also does not address allegations of bias in postmodernity in India.
