8 shot at gas station on Northside Drive in Atlanta

8 people were injured in a shooting at an Atlanta gas station.

According to confirmed reports, eight people were injured in a shooting at a petrol station in Atlanta early Sunday morning.

The shooting began around 12:45 a.m. at a Shell gas station near the Diamond Club off Northside Drive off Interstate 75, 11 Alive reports.

About a dozen people were chatting in the parking lot when a car pulled up and someone inside opened fire on the small group, Atlanta Police Maj. Alan Mitchell said.

According to Atlanta police, six of the eight people who were shot are in stable condition, while the other two are in critical condition. The motive for the shooting is still unknown. According to FOX 5 News Atlanta, the victims were known to police and were not confrontational when they were shot.

A shooting outside an Atlanta gas station prompted police to take action.

The victims were taken by private vehicles to Piedmont and Grady hospitals. The police chased them. Police claimed that although they were withholding that information at the time, detectives had surveillance footage and a description of the suspect vehicle.

According to the club’s social media pages, an event was advertised as the “ATL BLOODYMAXX Celebrity Birthday Bash” on Saturday night. It wasn’t immediately clear if the shooters were attending the club event, but according to 11Alive, the gas station offers free parking on its lot to club visitors.
