UK inflation hits new 40-year high of 9.1% as food and energy price surge persists
Inflation in the UK was recorded at 9.1% in May, the highest since March 1982, and is expected to rise further.
Inflation in the UK is currently the highest in the G7 countries.
The Bank of England said last week that inflation is likely to remain above 9% in the coming months, while in October it could cross 11%.
According to UK Finance Minister Rishi Sonak, the government is doing everything possible to curb inflation.
The Bank of England had recently raised interest rates in view of inflation.
