Two dead, 14 wounded in Norway nightclub shooting

Two people were killed and 14 were injured in a shooting at a nightclub and nearby streets in the Norwegian capital Oslo on Saturday, according to details.

Police say a suspect has been arrested and is believed to be the sole culprit.

Police spokesman Tour Barstad told the Afton Post that the crime scene spread from a London pub to a neighboring club to a nearby street where the suspect was arrested minutes after the shooting.

London Pub is a popular gay bar and nightclub in central Oslo.

“I saw a man carrying a bag, he picked up a gun and started firing,” reported public broadcaster NRK journalist Olau Ravenberg.

It was not immediately clear what the motive was for the attack.

Oslo will hold its annual Pride Parade later on Saturday.

“Two deaths have been confirmed,” the Oslo Police Department said in a tweet.

About 14 people have been taken to hospital, many with serious injuries, police said.

Pictures published by the newspaper VG, broadcaster NRK and others showed a large gathering outside a London pub, including police and ambulance workers.

Helicopters hovered over central Oslo, while ambulance and police car sirens could be heard throughout the city.

The University Hospital of Oslo said it had been issued a red alert following the shooting.
