We are about to starve, Sri Lankan Prime Minister

According to the International News Agency, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has warned that due to the financial crisis and wrong policies of the past, the country is facing severe food shortage, we are about to starve.

Newly elected Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on his government’s agricultural policy said that they will buy enough fertilizer for the coming season to address the food shortage.

Sri Lankan President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa last year banned the use of all chemical fertilizers, which has led to a dramatic drop in commodity production in the country.

The ban was lifted by the then government in view of the dramatic decline in commodity production. However, the decision was delayed and there was no significant increase in imports of other fertilizers.
