Illegal oil refinery blast kills more than 100
A bomb blast near an illegal oil refinery in Nigeria’s Rivers State has killed at least 100 people overnight, according to local government officials and an environmental group.
State Petroleum Resources Commissioner Goodluck Opiah said on Saturday that a fire at an illegal bunking site had killed more than 100 people and left their bodies unidentified.

According to the Youth and Environmental Advocacy Center, several vehicles queuing to buy illegal fuel were destroyed in the blast.
The owner of the illegal refinery has fled after the incident, and the government has declared him wanted, with officials saying they hope to find out what happened at the refinery if he is caught.
